      1. If I bring my girlfriend are we going to be dancing together or trading dance partners throughout the class? We want to learn how to dance together and wondering if this is what we were looking for.

        1. The best thing to do if you just want to dance together is to consider private lessons. It is industry standard to rotate in group classes.

    1. We are just working out a few details, and then we will have it posted soon. I will make sure to comment again just to remind you 😉 Do you know which classes you are wanting to take?

    1. Usually the lesson is taught by Cynthia and/or Gemini, and then occasional myself (Joel). It is a fantastic time, and we would love to have you join us!

    1. This last month we had very little follows, almost none. However, knowing that I have been trying to make proper adjustment for it in November.

  1. For these weekday classes do we just show up or do we need an appointment?

Looking at the Friday Beginner Salsa…

    Chuck

    1. For the Thursday, Friday, and Saturday beginner lessons with open dancing after all you have to do is just show up. Hope to see you Friday!

  2. My husband and I are wanting to start Salsa lessons or something like this, but I was wondering if this a really young group or is it a mixture of all ages? We are young 50 somethings!

  3. I’m very interested in the dance studio. I want to learn how to dance but I don’t know which one I want to try. It is possible to try or watch different classes before I sign up?

    1. We have some beginner classes on Thursday and Saturday that are just drop in classes for only $5. It is what most people usually start out with. Thursday is West Coast Swing and Saturday is Lindy Hop. Many of the people in the classes have never danced before. We tend to not let people just sit in watch because we have had some complaints that it has made our students nervous. We are very welcoming to beginners in those drop in classes and I would recommend you start there.

  4. My husband and I were thinking about learning swing. However, I saw that you rotate dance partners and I was wondering if that was a requirement.

    1. I would suggest that if the two of you are want to learn Swing just with each other that you consider taking private lessons. We teach them just about every day during the times that we don’t have group classes.

  5. Hi!

I’m new to Boise, and interested in taking lessons. I’m a little late for July. Any chance you’ll have an August/September schedule soon?

    Thanks!

  6. My mother and I are interested in taking some classes and have mild experience swing dancing. Would we be ok taking the Swing Dance Foundations on Monday?

  7. I have no experience with dancing but looking to try something new. Swing is appealing, which class would you recommend?

    1. West Coast Swing or Lindy Hop is where most of our dancers start. You really can’t go wrong though. The trick is to just get started and try new things until you find what you are looking for.

  8. Hi, I’m interested in taking blues dancing and am curious what the November schedule will be like?

Also, I was wondering what the difference was between the month long “foundations” class and the “beginner” class. I hazard the “beginner” is a one-off session teaching the same basics every week? Is the “foundations” then a weekly thing that progresses/builds on the skills/steps learned in the previous week? Does it assume the “beginner” class has already been taken or is the first session of “foundations” similar to the beginner class?

(I ask particularly as I am likely not going to be back in town yet at the start of November, and I’m wondering what I might potentially miss…)

Also, do you know if there are any regular social blues dances in Boise? (Like, after one learns to blues dance, are there places to go do it outside a dance studio?)

    1. I am actually working on the November schedule right now. It will look pretty much the same starting the first full weekend in Novemeber. The foundations class is a 4 week class, and the beginner lesson and dance is a drop in lesson with open dancing after. The foundations class builds each week. The beginner class does not build from week to week. As far as regular Blues nights, we have the only open social Blues dance on Fridays after the beginner lesson.

      1. What exactly does a “drop in” class entail? What is the difference between a drop in and a beginner class (aside from the $15 🙂 )

        1. drop in always means that you can come any day you want. The workshop on Saturday at 2pm covers more material than just the beginner lesson and open dance.

  9. What type of music is played during the open swing dancing Thursday nights? I’m looking for a country swing dancing place!

    1. Thursday night is our West Coast Swing night. Everything is a real mixture. Its not quite country but totally worth checking out!

  10. Is the posted class schedule current? Is there somewhere I can see the descriptions of the classes (NY Hustle, Bachata , etc.)? I am a single person, are there many enrollees that come alone?

    1. I will be posting the Dec. classes shortly. My best advice is to type those dance styles into YouTube and see if it is something you want to come down and do. You can also feel free to call us if you need more detail.

  11. Do we need to attend the beginner lesson at 8:00 pm on Thursday, Friday or Saturday in order to attend the open dancing that follows? Thank you.

  12. My wife and I would just like to go dance somewhere a couple times a month – preferably swing dancing (lindy). We don’t need lessons, just want to dance. Our budget is very tight, any recommendations?

  13. Hello! Are the $5 beginner classes for adults only, or are teens allowed? My 15 yr old son is looking to learn the basics of swing/ballroom dancing.

  14. What happens after may 24th? Today is the 31st and I was thinking of coming over for a lindy lesson. Are you out of town for a while?

    1. We start new mon – wed classes every month, and the thur – sat classes stay the same. This is how it is pretty much every month.

  15. Hi! My fiance & I have been wanting to take salsa/bachata dance lessons..We haven’t been before. His Birthday is coming up and I wanted to bring him as part of his birthday weekend. Will salsa be available on Friday, October 7th ?

  16. I would like to take some private lessons. I’ve never been comfortable dancing with a man. I’m always afraid that I’ll step on his toes. Where should I start and with what dance? Is this possible?

  17. Hello. My boyfriend are interested in taking a few beginners class on swing dancing. What is the difference between Balboa and the Lindy Hop swing? Does drop in on Saturday classes usually full? And how do I sign up and pay the fee? I will be in town July 22 and would like to sign up for the evening class. I look forward to your reply. Thank you.

    1. Lindy Hop is more of a traditional 1930’s style Swing dance, and Balboa is pretty fast and built for crowded floors. They are done to the same music just different styles. We always have room for more in our Saturday drop in classes. We take care of all payments in the studio.

    1. Any level 1 class is a great way to start. The beginner Salsa class starts September 6th at 8:00pm and the beginner Tango class starts September 8th at 7:00pm. Hope to see ya there!

  18. will this schedule remain the same in September? also, are private lessons an option? I was hoping to plan private salsa lessons for my wife and myself.

  19. My boyfriend and I were given lindy hop lessons for Christmas but we have a few questions. One, is it $50 per person? Or $50 for both people? Two, is the class only on friday nights? Thank you!

    1. It is $50/person for a 5 week class. We’ve only got our Lindy Hop classes on Fridays, but if you want to trade it for a different class that would be fine.

  20. Hi, my son is getting married in May. I was hoping to take privqte lessons for our Mother-Son dance. We have the song picked. It’s not very traditional. We would like to look like we have a few moves up our sleeve.
