-BAILEY McCULLY WORKSHOPS 12/15-

-SCHEDULE OF CLASSES-

1:00 pm – Solo Jazz: Kick Ass Charleston (1 hour)
This fabulously fun, high energy dance came out of New Orleans in the 1920’s! This class will break down the classic steps of the Charleston, work on elements of improvising with these steps, and give students a short but exciting choreography to take with them.

2:00 pm – Solo Jazz: Classy and Sassy Rhythms (1 hour)
Rhythm, music, and style are the center of this class. We will start classy by learning a vocabulary of classic jazz steps, then get sassy with the music. Students will not only learn new steps, but also new ways to use them! This class will take a rhythmic approach, using steps to make a little music as we dance.

3:30 pm – Lindy Hop Fundamentals (1.5 hours)
If Lindy Hop and swinging out is new to you, this is the perfect class! This class will start with the fundamentals of Lindy hop rhythm and build that rhythm into shapes like the swing out, lindy circles, and much more. We will focus on how to move musically, and most importantly, have fun with your partner!

5:00 pm – Level Up Your Lindy Hop (1 hour)
This class is all about taking your dancing to the next level with variations, new shapes, and polishing up what you already know. We will take a look at what it means to be a fabulous dance partner that everyone wants to dance with! Sprinkling in a little solo jazz, this class will combine both partner and solo dancing (no solo jazz experience needed).

After Thanksgiving West Coast Swing Bash!

Let’s face it, finding something to do around the Holidays can be tough, especially the Friday after Thanksgiving. You’ve got family from out of town, everything is a mess, and you have stuffed yourself with too much stuffing. It’s time to get out of the house, and stretch your legs a little bit.

We have been putting on an annual Post-Thanksgiving dance for over 10 years, and it has always been a huge success! Every year tons of latchkey dancers, with nowhere to boogie, come to our event to dance their hearts out and decompress from the holiday.

Since the beautiful Mardi Gras ballroom is and event center we can hold an all ages event, while also having access to their full bar (naturally the bar area is only 21 and up). Feel free to bring the whole family and share the dance floor across generations.

No experience or partner is needed in order to attend!

Cost – $10 at the door (yes we do take cards)

Black Friday deals will also be offered on dance lessons from Heirloom Dance Studio. These will make perfect gifts come Christmas!

There is a lot planned for this year, so make sure to stay tuned for more information.

7:30 pm – Doors Open

8:00 pm – Beginner Lesson with Joel Hunter and Stephanie Hinton

9:00 pm – Open Dancing Starts

We will have different DJ’s throughout the night:
-Courtney Hartman
-Kelli Hunter
-Joel Hunter

12:00 pm – Dance Ends

-Schedule-
1:00 pm – Swung vs. Straight Timing
What makes Swing music different from other music? In this hour we are going to figure that out. The Swung triple-steps are everything to Lindy Hop. By learning how to properly triple-step you will be able to dance faster for a lot longer.

2:00 pm – Rhythmic Variations
Let’s break the mold a bit, and look at our options. Learn how to break footwork patters up into their parts, therefor making it a lot easier to learn new moves. This class is essential for being a critically thinking Lindy Hopper.

3:00 pm – Flashy Footwork Variations
Now it’s time to put everything together. Let’s take some of our classic movements and change some of the footwork using what we have discovered in the previous classes. These are the patters that are really going to make your dancing stand out on the floor.
